Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Timeshare Cancellation rights

I bought a points based timeshare on Sat 17 March. After much debate my wife and I want to cancel our contract, we signed two ''contracts'' at the same time: one for virginia which is where we signed the contract and that says we have 7 days to cancel with no loss. And the property we signed for (even though we are on a points plan) is in south carolina and that says we had five days after the signing to cancel. Today is Fri the 23rd Can I still turn in my cancellation to the office here in alexandria? thanks

Re: Timeshare Cancellation rights

I would give it a try. If they bulk then you should see an attorney. I am licensed in VA and hope to have passed the SC bar. I will know in May. In any event I may be able to help you should the timeshare folks not back down.

Submit the paperwork necessary to signal your intention to cancel both contracts forthwith(quickly).

Re: Timeshare Cancellation rights

I would certainly get the cancellation in to Alexandria today. Make sure you get a receipt. Also, do the contracts define day as calendar day or business day? This might make a difference.
