Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia

Unable to return damaged merchandise

Bought kitchen cabinets and paid in full before delivery. Shipment arrived damaged. Store took back and deliverd new shipment. New shipment also damaged. Called store and representative came to see. Said cabinets indeed were damaged and agreed to replace some. I said that all were damaged and that all should be replaced. Store then said will not replace any. Asked for money back, store refused.

Placed dispute with AMEX. They investigated and ruled in my favor. Received credit for cabinets.

Called store for them to pickup cabinets and they refused. Many calls, emails later store said not to contact them anymore.

Received letter from their lawyer through regular mail (not registered) and said will sue if I don't pay them for cabinets. Store will not accept cabinets back, only money.

What should I do? Worried about the impending lawsuit.

Seek an attorney to speak with their attorney in an attempt to head off a law suit. However, you are in a good position because they have to take the step to sue you. It may take some time for this to actually be done.
