Legal Question in Consumer Law in Virginia
Unfair billing
I had my car towed to an autobody shop for an estimate. After 8 days and several phone calls the repairman gives us an estimate. I was unable to pay at the time and told him I would search for a cheaper parts list. He agreed, but 2 weeks later he calls and says he's charging me $20 per day storage since the first day I had the car towed to him. Can this be done?

Re: Unfair billing
Yes, it is permissible for car repair shops to assess storage fees but many do so only after a grace period during which the owner of the vehicle incurs no such charges.
