vehicle warranty

I purchased a used vehicle from a very large national dealer, at that time I also purchased an extended warranty. Well within the warranty a spark plug blew out and I had to replace the head. The warranty company claims that damage to the engines threads caused the plug to blow out. They claim that this damage was ''pre existing'' and therefore excluded from the warranty. I have better business letters from the dealer, telling me to pursue the claim with the warranty company, and the warranty company is now telling me that the damaged happened before I bought the vehicle. Who should I pursue?

Where did the warranty company obtain its information regarding the engine threads? What mechanic's report are they relying on for asserting that the condition which caused the

plug blow-out was preexisting.
