Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I'm 73, a widow, and I'm at my wit's end because of a very harrassing debt collector. I don't know what to do, and I would greatly appreciate feedback. I was contacted by this debt collector a few days ago and coerced into making 2 payments that I don't have. This collector has been nasty and driven me to tears each time I've talked to her. I can't even repeat some of the things she said - it makes me start crying so much that I get really scik. I ended up giving her my check account number, which I know I shouldn't have done. She had just beat me down so much that I couldn't hold up anymore. This collector called me back this morning and wanted a bigger payment and started screaming at me. I just can't take it anymore. Do I have any rights? What can I do? I can't pay what she was demanding, and I'm now scared to death that I gave her my checking account number. I'm scared of this woman. She is nasty. By the way, the collector will never give me her address or where she works. I'm not sure but I think she is one of the scavenger debt collectors.

Thank you so much for any help. I'm petrified right now.

That is illegal and unacceptable and you should not put up with this. You need to cancel any bank authorization immediately and let your bank know immediately. You need to do this ASAP before they seize all your money. Don't ever give anyone your bank account info. Feel free to call me, there is no charge for the consultation.
