Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

bad check

a collection agency is threating to send my check for ''processing'' if I do not pay in full. No one will tell me what ''processing'' mean. The agency said that they work for the client and that is all they have to say. I am unable to make the full payment at this time. I am to call them back on Fri 6/12 to maybe give them a $100. the total due is $615. What can I do? I understand that I do owe the money but it has been a terrible year. I can make small payment, maybe $50 a month. If I send that do they have to accept that?

Re: bad check

No, they don't have to accept that (or anything less than the full amount you owe), but it, obviously, might be in their best interests to do so, given your circumstances.
