bad check

i wrote a check for a paydayloan and I had to closed my account. can they proscueted,can they send the police to pick me up. or do they had to follow the debt collection law. oh by the it was an internet pay day loan.

Re: bad check

In Va. Code Sec. 18.2-181, a bad check is defined as a crime of larceny; prosecutable as a Class 1 misdemeanor offense if less than $200 or as a Class 6 felony if $200 or more.

If you deliberately wrote a worthless check on an account that you knew was closed, in return for goods or services which you received, and thereby defrauded another person(s) or entity, that's a bad check crime for which you could be prosecuted in the Commonwealth.

Better contact the defrauded one(s) and make the check good--QUICK! (And, no, they would not have to follow "debt collection law" in the afore-described scenario, but merely go to the cops and swear out a warrant for your arrest.)
