Can my direct deposit social security benefits and military retirement benefits be garnished in the state of VA if there is a court judgment against me?

Re: Bank account garnishment

Assuming the debt does not involve federal tax liability on your part nor alimony nor child support arrearages, your social security payments should be safe from garnishment based upon such a judgment.

However, as to your military retirement pay, I would rather doubt it, and would tend to believe that it could be subject to garnishment.
