Ummm... Yeah.

First of course you should challenge it with your credit card company. Part of the problem is that they already have the money and you have to get it back. So you want to start by working with your credit card company.

The problem is that you did agree to pay for whatever it cost, so the question comes down to what is the legitimate cost for the work.

However, since you only authorized payment on your credit card for $1,191, they did not have authortity to charge the rest on your card, even if you do owe it. Payment by credit card is different from whether you owe the money.

I would get some estimates from other dentists.

A jump from 1191 to 7000 is so extreme that it almost sounds like possible fraud, even credit card fraud as in a crime.

To try to demosntrate that it is not right, I would start with estimates from other dentists in the area. Make sure you know exactly what work was done. You might need to NOT tell them why you are calling, but perhaps say you are shopping around for price. See if you can get the records to show exactly what work was done.

And then you will want to demand that they show you how the work adds up to $7000+.

And you will probably have to sue them for the extra money back.
