Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Are charge off paid by the goverment on taxes

In 1996 I paid off capital one to buy my home and I

still have the Feb.1997 credit report in july of 1997

they put it back on my credit report.

I found out that they put a lean on my house so in order to sell my home I had to pay them 5,000.00 and they said they have no record of the 1996 payoff.

Please tell me what I can do to get money back.

If you paid this company twice for the same debt,

you have a legal right to sue them to recover this amount plus any incidental damages which you've sustained in the event they are unwilling to settle this matter on a voluntary basis.
