Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
Collecting a debt
CAN I buy a debt from a corporation
and attempt to collect the debt as
an individual? A corporation needs
an attorney in VA and the debt is
not big enough for the corporation
to spend money in attempt to collect, I can buy the debt at 10%
of the money owed.
thanks
carol

Re: Collecting a debt
Assuming that the debtor is a consumer who owes the corporation money and that you therfore properly identify yourself as a debt collecting counsel and comply with whatever other legal and procedural protocols that are mandated by the FDCPA and any other related statutes which may apply, I don't see why not.
