Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
collection
I was charged more for a wheelchair by a medical supply co., because their employee billed it as a RENTAL rather than a SALE, as I was ''promised.''
Other equipment was ''promised'' to cost 10%. Yet, I was later billed 100%.My insurance stated that they NEVER pay for bathroom items..So I paid 100% out of my pocket.
I have tried to get this straight. But this co. passes the buck to other offices.Later, they said that my balance was ZERO.Now, I have found out that all has been turned over to a collection agency.I contacted the medical co.,who again passed me to numerous offices. Finally, I was told to speak with a mgr.--who won't be in until Fri.They will not help me. Their stated their invoices reflecting a zero balance, were simply a typo.SORRY and GOOD LUCK.
The collection agency violated the Fair Credit Act.They violated my privacy by telling my grandaughter details about MY debt--she has my same first name. They asked her DOB only at the end of the conversation. She is a TEEN-I am 80.Can they proceed, since they havn't contacted me directly? The agency said they cannot.I can't speak with the co. mgr. until FRI.. .What should I do?Should I answer the collection calls or wait until Fruiday, for hopeful company resolution?

Re: collection
I would counsel you to wait until Friday to see whether this matter may then be resolved.
