I am in the process of requesting a summons to answer interrogatories againist an individual that owes me money. Do I need a lawyer? Judgement was awarded 1-20-00.

Simple answer is, "no". You never need a lawyer to represent yourself, as far as the law is concerned. That said, I'd suggest you get someone to help you with collections on a percentage basis. If you don't fully understand the procedure, you won't know what to do when the defendant doesn't show up at all or refuses to answer some or all of your questions. Besides which, did you have a subpoena duces tecum served on the defendant to make him produce records and documents? What do you do if he doesn't respond properly? Either figure all of that out for yourself, get an attorney to help you, or let it go. Otherwise, you're only going to be frustrated at the waste of time.
