Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

A company contacted me about magazine subscriptions.They never said it could not be cancelled & have already billed me even though it will take 60 to 120 days to receive the magazines. When I called to cancel I was told that it anything that is pre-paid could not be cancelled & I will continue to be billed for the next 16 months. Since I have not received any magazines & have no written contract with them, should I not be able to cancel this.

Yes, and write cancelled on the next bill you receive, make a copy for your

record and do not send them any money with your cancelled invoice. (And, if by chance you've already prepaid via your credit card, contact the card issuer IN WRITING, letting it know that you wish to put the issue of this payment ---as well as any future payments----assessed against this card account---in dispute and the reasons why.)
