Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
Credit Card Debt
After divorce, per the PSA, we take our own debt (credit cards). If I die, or declare bankruptsy can the credit card companies try and collect from my ex-wife? Or is she protected because of the PSA? These are not joint named credit cards, the are single signer.

Re: Credit Card Debt
Technically speaking, the credit card company would not have its collection options limited by any private agreement(PSA)between you and your former wife, even one which had been incorporated into a final decree of divorce. Nevertheless, if the accounts were not jointly, but rather individually held, then any debts accrued on these respective accounts would, as a practical matter, only be collectible from the sole signer on the account.
