Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

credit card debt fir deceased

My husband died recently leaving debts of 10000 & 10500 on 2 different cards & 450 on another one. I am not on any cards not even as a autorized user. There is no estate only our house which I live in & still pay on. The card co. are telling me I have to get an equity loan to pay off these cards or a lein will be put on my house. The cards will stay opened until I pay them. We had no savings only the house. Do I have to take out an equity loan ? Please help me . They are hounding me constantly. It has only been 3 monts since his passing.

You would be well advised to at least consult with if not retain an attorney to assist you with holding these predatory collectors at bay.
