Yes, apparently, social security payments are subject to limited garnishment for such items as unpaid federal taxes and delinquent student loans as well as back child support and alimony.

SSI(Supplemental Security Income) payments, however, appear to be completely exempt from any kind garnishment, attachment or other legal process.
