Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Credit check by company without authorization

When I got a copy of my credit report, I noticed that a collection agency had made two credit checks on me under the guise of a lender. (It showed up in the section that lenders see rather than the section that is not seen by lenders.) They did this twice, which affects my credit score. Do I have any legal recourse against this company, being that I did not give them permission to view my credit report in this manner?

Re: Credit check by company without authorization

If you have such recourse, technically speaking, I very much doubt that it would be worth your time and expense to pursue.
