Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

credit report

i found out there was a collections on my credit report(belonged to my father, i called the creditor) i disputed it and it was removed. this is the 3rd time this year this has happened. my problem is that after the inaccurate info was removed, my score dropped 30 points. everything else on the report remained the same(i check my credit monthly) my score was 620 prior to the collection, 598 with the collection, now 538. am i missing something here? i have no late payments, collections anything like that on my report. is there anything i can do with equifax legally on this issue? is equifax breaking the law when they allow multiple items that are inaccurate on my report in a year, when the ssn on the debts are different? thank you very much

Re: credit report

As long as Equifax has removed the inaccurate items, I would say that you could not hold them liable for anything, including your downward trending credit score, although you might want to ask them what might account for it. (You have failed to clarify whether the score you mentioned was that of Equifax or that of another credit reporting agency whose credit scores you might wish to also check.)
