Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I was dating a girl and her father gave her a credit card in his name. We put 10000 on it. Sometime she signed and sometimes I signed for the purchases. We are no longer together and her father wants me to pay half the debt. From a legal standpoint am I responsible and can he sue me for it??

father was giving you a gift equal to one half of these charges?

No, I don't think so.
