Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Old Debt

If a creditor reported me as being deliquent 9 years ago, how long can this old debt remain on my credit report? Isn't after 7 years the creditor can no longer report me. Is it legal for creditors to sell old deliquent accounts from 9 years ago and re-report that on my credit report? How many times can the same creditor re-report me for the same debt from the same line of credit?

Re: Old Debt

I am not aware of any particular statute of limitation(state or federal) which would prohibit this kind of reporting. (Generally bankruptcies may remain on these credit reports 7-10 years.)
