Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

We have entered into a debt solutions company to stop our credit card problems. In doing that we have notified all credit card companies and sent notices to them. They have all been advised. Our problem is in fact one of them stated they do not recognize this at all and demanded payments anyway. They have continued to harass us by calling consciously. We are refusing to answer our cell phone any more for this unless the number is someone we know. What can be done to stop them and the harassing calls. We can not afford legal issues my husband is now disabled and we did this to avoid more problems and bankruptcy. We are also in the middle of trying to get our mortgage lowered due to the same facts. We are desperate for help and to stop this harassment from the companies. Do we have legal grounds to stop this.

It is not easy to do and you may not get very far without an attorney helping you. But sometimes a well-worded letter from an attorney will stop it. You might also direct your concerns to the debt solutions company and get them to help stop it. Good luck.
