Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

My father has passed away, unmarried and no estate, he only has one vehicle in his name. There are 4 children. He had a life insurance policy with one child listed as the primary beneficiary. He has alot of unpaid medical bills. Will the children be responsible for the unpaid medical bills, and will the life insurance policy has to be used to pay the medical bills?

If above does not apply, ----Our father requested that the life insurance money be divided between all of the grandchildren--there are 6 grandchildren. Will the primary beneficiary of the life insurance be obligated by law or morals to divide the life insurance monies between the grandchildren like our father had requested before his death?

Thank you for your time

No, the surviving children of the deceased are not responsible for his unpaid

medical bills.

The life insurance policy death benefit could be used to pay these medical bills if the named beneficiary wanted to use the policy proceeds in this manner.

The answer to your third question is, no, i.e., no moral or legal obligation

on the part of the named beneficiary to use the death benefit in the manner suggested.
