Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
garnishment summons
A garnishment summons was just served on my ex-wifes bank for a bill that we paid over 7 years ago. Neither I nor my ex-wife have received any correspondence til now. That being the summons served at her bank and thus froze her funds. The bank gave ex-wife a copy of their(banks)paperwork. Is there a statute of limitations on serving a garnishment summons?

Re: garnishment summons
Not on the garnishment summons itself but there is certainly an applicable statute of limitations on the underlying breach of contract action which the creditor (or his surrogate) must have utilized in order to obtain a valid judgment against you wife which would have provided the basis for the garnishment.
