Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

husband hid money problems - now loosing home

Been amicably separated from husband for 1 years. My 9 yr old daughter and I live in the condo that is in his name and he continued to pay the bills and let me be a stay at home mom for our child. The bills were all mailed directly to his place of business. I now find out he is behind on everything and we are about to loose the house. What can I do? Also, the head of the condo assoc came by and told me even though my name was not on the house they could still garnish my wages and come after me since I was the one living there. Can they do that?

Please help

Re: husband hid money problems - now loosing home

No, I do not believe that that is correct and that the condo association's remedy for nonpayment of condo fees and the like must lie with the owner of record (your husband) and not with any occupant of an association unit.
