Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

My husband passed away DEC.21, 2010. The year before he had recieved radiation at Duke. He was pre approved. We found out 6 months before he died that insurance was not going to pay because it was considered not medically neessary. We conrinued to dispute this, then I tried for a year after he died, an all I was able to do was get the hospital to reduce the bill from 20,000.00 to 10,000. based on my income and the fact I have 3 children. The bill was turned over to a collection agency. And I am paying 250.00 a month. I didnt think I was responsible for this. The bill was in my husbands name, and when the hospital found out he died with no will, it was put in my name.

So, apparently you didn't dispute the hospital's actions and now (having agreed to pay $250 per month) you're probably stuck with it.
