Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Interest Charged on outstanding Dental/Medical Bills

My employer provides me with full medical and dental coverage. A few years back I had to have some major dental work performed (gum surgery, receding gums). The bill was more than my insurance would pay, therefore I have been paying on the balance these past years. Someone told me that you did not have to pay interest/finance charges on medical/dental bills. Is this true???

Thank You
