can i go to jail

I have a $19,000 debt, i have been sending them $20.00 a month but i keep geting letters from them saying they are going to take legal action.. can they take my only car or put me in jail?

You most certainly cannot go to jail for a debt

(except for defying a court order relating to

child support or divorce issues).

If you owe money on your car to a lender, they

probably cannot take your car, because the

lender has an interest in it as well.

ONLY if they go to court and receive an

official court judgment, they can garnish your

wages for 25% of the amount over minimum wage

and they can garnish your bank account.
