Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I have a judgement. Can I file for attachment?

I have a judgement issued in Texas three or four years ago against my ex for back support. He is not paying regularly and is falling even more behind. Responding only sporadically to state AG's CS office. He lives in VA. I live in TX. Can I go to VA and file to attach his assets based on TX court judgement?

Re: I have a judgement. Can I file for attachment?

No, not without first going through a process in Virginia known as "domesticating" the Texas judgment

whereby it would be formally registered in the appropriate court of the Commonwealth so that in effect it becomes the same as any Virginia judgment(and equally as enforceable).
