Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Judgement

I have a 10 year old credit card debt that I offered to settle years ago and was told by the company that they didn't want my money, to save it for the lawyers because they were going to sue me. They sold out to another company that calls me and I tell them what the other company told me to do. So they have set up a court date in Virginia for this and it says that if I don't show up a judgement may be awarded to them for the amount. What will they be able to do in this judgement?

Re: Judgement

If they get a judgment, they will be able to garnish your wages and bank accounts, levy on personal property such as cars and other assets, and get a lien on, and sell, any real estate that you own. If this is a 10-year old debt, you may well have defenses. See a lawyer immediately.
