Lawsuits for debt collection

I recently received a letter from a law firm stating that their client has prevailed a lawsuit failed against me and was awarded a judgement on my account. What does this mean?

Re: Lawsuits for debt collection

It very likely means that someone has successfully sued you and been awarded

a judgment(damages)against you by a court of law (from a lawsuit which apparently you may not have even known about). You therefore should demand to see proof of this judgment and then arrange to consult with an attorney to see whether it can still be vacated or set aside.
