Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Legal question

we sold a car and the dmv did not properly process the paperwork. the person who we sold the car to let someone else drive it without a license. that person was arrested and the car was police impounded. we got the tow bill because the car was still in our names and we can not find the sellers report. can we hold the driver responsible for the tow bill? he said that he would pay us the money but nothing has come so we are thinking of taking legal actions.

Re: Legal question

As I believe that I answered before, you could, of course, sue the driver for the towing bill under the circumstances described, but the "deeper pocket", so to speak, and the one more likely to be able to pay this towing bill would appear to be the buyer of the vehicle who apparently negligently allowed this "someone else drive it without a license".
