Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Liability

My wife and her former husband have unpaid medical debts, which, remain unpaid. There was no property settlement with their divorce. These debts now show up on my personal credit report, and have caused my score to lower by about 200 points. Can these ceditors now hold me personally liable for these debts?
