Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I loaned almost $10,000 to a person with whom I was once in a committed, long-term relationship. This person failed to repay the loan, causing me to have to file for bankruptcy. I live in Virginia but the other person lives in Georgia. Is there any way to sue for my money?
