Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Medical Bill Collections

I have a hospital bill I can not afford to pay. I have made a regular payment each month since receiving the bill. The hospital turned it over to a collection agency. As long as I continue to make regular payments what legal action can the collection agency take against me?

Re: Medical Bill Collections

In theory they could take whatever legally permissible action that is available to them and necessary to collect the balance owed, including taking you to court and obtaining a judgment against you for this amount.

Making monthly payments, unfortuantely, in no way immunizes you against such possible creditor action.
