Am I obligated to pay?
My wife made a verbal contract with an accountant to review our taxes for a fee of $750 and get taxes reduced that we paid. After the accountant fulfilled the contract, I got a threatening e-mail from a non-profit organization (which the accountant started to perform these services and has since left them) saying I owe them $750, the other half of the usual fee for service. I was not aware of this organization beforehand and my contract did not involve them. Am I obligated to pay them this fee?

How could you be legally obligated on a verbal contract to pay twice the sum that had supposedly
been agreed to for the service provided, to an organization of which there had allegedly been no mention nor reference in the contract, unless, of course, all of the above had in fact been mentioned/referenced, but your wife failed to take note of it, forgot about it, or simply did not understand it?
