Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

past debt

Because I do not have health insurance,I have incurred up to 60,000 in medical debt that I am trying to pay down,a bit each month. I'm engaged to be married-will my future husband's salary be at all garnished or will he be affected in any way because of this? He is only on forms as emergency contact person,I want to protect him and am willing to forego marriage plans,if his money can be attached in any way.Thank you for your help!

Re: past debt

No, neither his money nor other assets can be subject to attachment or other enforcement action by your creditors (assuming that he has not acted as a guarantor of any kind for any of your debts).
