Personal Loan Nonpayment

I lent 1000 to a friend and he is not returning it. What should my course of action be? I only have a copy of the check that he cashed and no other formal documentation. My spouse was a witness when he asked me for the loan, if that helps.

Send a formal written notice demanding

full payment by a date certain. Then, if payment is not remitted by that date, file your case in small claims court for around $40.
