question about sole beneficiary of a will
My husband died 10 years ago and left me as sole benefituary of his estate. (I am his wife.) He appointed one child as executor. I receive a certain amount of money each month. One of my five children is now demanding a detailed accounting of how my money is spent each month. According to the will, upon my death, the remainder of the money will be distributed evenly among my children. This daughter is now causing much distress in the family. Do I have to provide her an accounting of how the money is spent each month?
This daughter is very intimidating and has been causing huge problems ever since my husband died. My husband wanted to ensure that I was taken care of, but my daughter seems to be mostly concerned that there will be enough money left over for her after my death. In other words, she is not concerned at all about my well being.
I'd appreciate any feedback. Do I have to provide this detailed accounting, and also, how much say does she have in the way the money is handled? Thank you in advance. My husband died 10 years ago and left me as sole beneficiary of his estate. (I am his wife.) He appointed one child as executor. I receive a certain amount of money each month. Re: question about sole beneficiary of a will
If you are the sole beneficiary under your deceased husband's will of all of the assets in his estate, without conditions, then the remaindermen(which would be the children) under this will would unlikely be in any position, legally speaking, to be demanding anything, much less a monthly accounting of your expenditures.
If such be the case, then tell this demanding and apparent ingrate of a daughter to take a hike.
