Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
Release from credit card and unsecured loan debt
How does a separated party from a non-divorced couple
get released from credit card debts and unsecured
loan debts? How does this legally separated person
get their name removed from these previously joint
accounts?

Re: Release from credit card and unsecured loan debt
You can close the accounts to stop new charges, but the only way to deal with the existing joint debt is to pay it, get the other party to pay it, or file bankruptcy. You cannot simply remove your liability for joint debt.
