Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
release of garnishment
Had a garnishment, and received a letter from court signed by lawyer and clerk of courts releasing garnishment. now got notice of new garnishment with over $2,000 more interest added on. Nearly had it paid off when garnishment was released. Tried to contact company to finish paying off, but no response. When I called the Clerk of Courts she said the release was a mistake. Is this right?

Re: release of garnishment
Garnishments in VA only last a certain amount of time (no more than 6 months), then need to be refiled.
