Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

repossession

I need to repossess a truck I sold for lack of payment over the last 4 months (buyer made first 2 of 19 payments and then stopped). There is a contract for the sale. I have sent registered letters reflecting balance and accrued interest. Do I need a warrent or other document to reclaim my truck? thanks

Re: repossession

You cannot repossess this truck without going to court unless you sold it pursuant to an agreement that permitted you to retain title to the vehicle

and to take action to repossess it in the event of the buyer's default.
