Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Satisfaction of Judgement

I had a judgment against me and my wages were garnished in 2003. All monies due were collected that year but the petitioner has yet to file the necessary paperwork to the court stating it has been satisfied. (VA Form DC 459) I have contacted the petitioner to no avail. Is this criminal in and of itself and what are my options to get this cleared or at least state it has been satisfied on my credit?

Re: Satisfaction of Judgement

If you can show that the judgment has been satisfied and that you've made diligent efforts to contact your judgment creditor to have the release executed and recorded, and to no avail, then you should contact the clerk's office of the court where the judgment was recorded to schedule a hearing on your motion to have it released by the court.
