Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

My Sister will not pay and I have her furniture stored in my basement.

I loaned my sister a large sum of money and now the balance is $1608.00...over a matter of a few months. Her and I initialed every loan and payment. My question is: She was evicted from her last rental and I agreeded to store her property for a few days until they found a place. They found a place and it was furnished. She told me not to worry that they would get her things from my basement soon. That was about 5 months ago. What rights do I have to dispose of her property. I sent her a certified letter that she signed for and told her she had to have the things moved by Dec. 8...but she didn't. I have since wrote her and told her that she has to have them moved by the 15th of Dec. I refuse to go into my basement anymore and see her things knowing she still oews me $1608.00 and she her using me as a storage unit too. What are my options?

Go to the local public library, and look up Virginia Code � 43-34. "Enforcement of liens acquired under �� 43-31 through 43-33 and of liens of bailees." Get the reference librarian to help you locate it.

note: you're a "bailee" - that's someone who takes possession of the property of another person, whether or not they're paid to do so.
