Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia
Small Claims court?
I was hired for a receptionist position on September 5th for a music studio. I worked the following week (7th-12th) and on the 15th. I was to get 40 hour work weeks at $10.00 an hour. He told me he would be paying me cash weekly during the 30 day trial period (to see if I liked the job, and he liked me for the job). Thursday ''Absolute Power Clean'' came out to clean the building for the guy I worked for, but when they completed the job--my boss was nowhere to be found. Because I was the only responsible person there, I paid out of my own pocket $309.00. My boss was missing for a few days, which meant I also had not been paid the $400 for my first week of work. So he now owes me $709.00. He contacted me Saturday and said for the inconvenience, he wanted to give me $800. But I have not seen or heard from him since and can not get in touch with him. What is the best way to go about taking him to court? Or what should I do?
