Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Social Security Disability & debt

I am on full S.S. Disability and am told it will be permanent. What can I do about the bills I accrued and still have, plus daily living expenses, now that all I receive is a Disability check? Can these creditors 'put me in jail'? I have nothing of value to sell. Thank you for your time and consideration.

A creditor may obtain a judgment against you but may not garnish or receive the ssi you receive, unless you mix the ssi with otherwise garnishable funds.

My information is that SSA(full disability payments) are subject to attachment in certain instances(after the creditor has obtained a valid judgment), whereas SSI payments are absolutely immune from such attachment.
