Re: social security exemption

It is my understanding that now only certain such social security payments are exempt from garnishment and that there is no longer any blanket exemption for all social security payments, e.g. medicaid is, apparently, exempt, but regular social security disability or regular old age pension payments, apparently, are not.

Given the foregoing, you, apparently, would need a statement from the Social Security Administration itself as to the source of your particular payments in order to claim a valid exemption from garnishment.
