Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I am in the state of va. Can I stop a judgment from a hospital, have no insurance and very low income. I have no inmcome but my husband earns under 30 thousand a year. We will loose our house if they garnish his wages won't be able to pay our morgage.We have a teen age daughter at home and this past year we qualified for dental insurance thru the free clinic. My medical bills are from Oct of 2007 and I am just now receiving this debt and there is more rolling in. Please help I am so scared my debts may ruin my husbands credit and cause us to loose our home that we just got in 2007.
