Staute of Limitaions Dealing with court odered debt payment

I have on my credit report a indebtedness that I have known about. I am not paying it because I am not at fault. I want to know what the timeframe is until, by law, they have to write it off and clear my credit report.

I would need more information. The caption of this question refers to a "court ordered debt payment"? Is there a judgment against you?
