I'm being sued,should i worry

I have a dispute w/ a orthodontist that they have sued over. The initial consult was free and they advised that my child needed braces.My wife told them that if our child received treatment it would be with them. They xrayed my child assuming we were going to start ortho. treatment, however after consulting with the dr. i do not feel braces are medically necessary. (he said she will have enhanced chewing power) I did not sign anything. They want $300 for the xrays. I told them to take me to court and they have. Do i owe them?

More information would appear necessary as to the exact circumstances under which the x-raying took place, who was told what---or not, any agreements(express or implied) etc., before a reasonably reliable answer might be offered to this question.
